This was the character that was developed by three generations of Walkers in the nineteenth century. It owed much to the Walker’s proximity to the West Coast whisky producing regions that were traditionally home to the most strongly flavoured single malts. The original Black Label Walker recipe was changed by adding more heavily peated malt whiskies, and by choosing some that have been aged in deeply charred oak casks, to give the blend the additional intensity.
The flavour is full bodied and complex with the signature Johnnie Walker peat smoke shining brightly through rich raisins and sultanas. Apples, pears and orange zest bring freshness while creamy vanilla and spice bring a softness and sweetness to the tongue. The long warming finish combines spicy oak tannins and lingering smoke.
